Second Pakistani Killed in Dubai Amid Escalating Middle East Conflict
A Pakistani driver was killed in Dubai’s Al Barsha area on Saturday evening after debris from an aerial interception struck his vehicle shortly after Iftar, authorities confirmed.
The incident occurred near Sheikh Zayed Road, behind the Mall of the Emirates. Officials stated that the impact sparked a brief fire, but no other injuries were reported. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine whether the driver received an emergency alert on his mobile phone and if safety instructions were followed.
Al Barsha, located along one of Dubai’s busiest highways, has now witnessed the death of the second Pakistani national in recent attacks, raising the regional casualty toll to four.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep sorrow over the deaths, stating, “I am deeply saddened by the tragic death of two Pakistani nationals in Dubai caused by missile debris.” Previously, another Pakistani national, Murid Zaman from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, was killed in Abu Dhabi’s Madinat Zayed area after being struck by Iranian missile fragments.
The Middle East has been plunged into turmoil following US and Israeli attacks on Iran, which resulted in the deaths of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and senior military officials. Tehran responded with strikes on Israel and Gulf Arab states hosting US military installations.
The conflict has also expanded to Lebanon, where Israel launched attacks after Hezbollah fired across the border. According to Iran’s UN ambassador, Amir Saeid Iravani, the US-Israeli attacks have killed at least 1,332 Iranian civilians and wounded thousands. Reports indicate US forces may have been responsible for a strike on an Iranian girls’ school that killed dozens of children, though former President Trump, without citing evidence, blamed Iran.
Meanwhile, Iranian strikes have reportedly killed 10 people in Israel, and at least six US service members have been killed. Speaking aboard Air Force One, Trump said the campaign could render negotiations meaningless if Iran’s leadership and military were destroyed, stating, “At some point, I don’t think there will be anybody left maybe to say ‘We surrender.'”
In Iran, fuel depots were reportedly hit in three areas, including Karaj west of Tehran. The Iranian president issued apologies to neighboring states for attacks on US facilities within their territories, while hardliners criticized the move. Officials emphasized that Iran’s military would respond firmly to attacks.
Saudi Arabia has warned Tehran that continued attacks on its territory and energy sector could prompt a direct response, according to sources familiar with the matter.
