Iran’s Defense and Security Forces Pledge Loyalty to New Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei

TEHRAN, March 9, 2026: Iran’s major military, defense, and intelligence institutions have pledged firm allegiance to Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei, who was recently elected as the third Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic by the Assembly of Experts.

The announcements were made late Sunday and early Monday after the historic decision that followed the martyrdom of former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei. Officials described the transition as a moment of unity and strength for the Islamic Republic during a critical time.

Iran’s Defense Ministry Welcomes New Leader

The Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics was among the first institutions to issue a message of support.

In its statement, the ministry congratulated the Iranian nation and Muslims around the world on what it called a “thoughtful and worthy election.”

Officials expressed full commitment to follow the leadership of Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei and continue the path established by the founder of the Islamic Revolution, Ruhollah Khomeini.
