Pakistan targeting militants in Afghanistan based on intelligence: Tarar
Ataullah Tarar, the Information Minister of Pakistan, said that Pakistan is carrying out operations against militant hideouts inside Afghanistan based on accurate intelligence information.
While talking to foreign media, he said that Pakistan has not targeted any civilian areas in Afghanistan. According to him, the operations are only aimed at terrorist networks, their infrastructure, and their support systems.
The minister also rejected the figures presented by the Afghan Taliban government, calling them unrealistic and not worthy of serious comment. He said the claims made by the spokesperson of the Afghan Ministry of Defense about battlefield victories against Pakistan are incorrect and only propaganda.
Ataullah Tarar also denied reports about Afghan civilian casualties that the Taliban government and the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan mentioned. He said the information released by the UN agency in Kabul is completely based on data provided by the Taliban government.
The minister further said that recent attacks carried out together by Afghan Taliban fighters and militants of Fitna al-Khawarij show that there is a connection between the Taliban government and several terrorist groups operating from Afghan territory.
He added that Pakistan has responded quickly and effectively to all attacks by the Taliban regime. According to him, Pakistan accurately targeted terrorist bases and their supporters, including Taliban military positions.
