In his first public message following his appointment as Iran’s Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei has outlined a firm stance on national security, foreign relations, and the country’s sovereignty. In an audio statement, Khamenei declared that the blood of the martyrs would be avenged, and emphasized that the Strait of Hormuz would remain closed.

Khamenei acknowledged the significant responsibility his new role entails, while praising the Iranian people for demonstrating their strength on the global stage. He emphasized that his leadership holds little meaning without the unwavering support of the public, stressing the importance of national unity in the face of external threats.

“We must defeat the enemies targeting the Iranian people,” Khamenei said. He reiterated Iran’s resolve to never abandon its right to avenge the martyrs, particularly those associated with Monab School, a tragic incident that continues to resonate within the country. Khamenei vowed to continue operations targeting US military bases in the region, stating that these attacks would persist as long as the bases remain operational.

While emphasizing Iran’s right to defend itself, Khamenei also pointed out that the nation seeks friendly relations with its neighbors, clarifying that military actions would remain focused on US bases and not civilians.

The new Supreme Leader also called for the continued closure of the strategic Strait of Hormuz as a way to apply pressure on adversaries. He concluded his message with a prayer for divine guidance, expressing hope that the Iranian people’s unity would ultimately lead to the defeat of their enemies.
