A Pakistani national has been killed in the United Arab Emirates after debris from an intercepted ballistic missile fell in the Baniyas area of Abu Dhabi, according to authorities.
The Abu Dhabi government confirmed that its air defence systems successfully intercepted the missile. However, fragments from the interception landed in a residential area, leading to the fatal incident.
Officials have urged residents to rely only on verified information from official channels and to refrain from spreading unconfirmed reports or rumours.
With this latest incident, the total number of fatalities linked to recent attacks in the United Arab Emirates has risen to seven. Authorities noted that at least three of those killed were Pakistani nationals, including one in Dubai and two in Abu Dhabi.
Pakistan’s embassy in the UAE expressed deep sorrow over the loss and said it is working closely with local authorities to provide assistance to the victim’s family and ensure the timely repatriation of the body.
“We are profoundly saddened by the tragic loss of a Pakistani national in Abu Dhabi’s Baniyas area due to falling debris following the interception of a missile,” the embassy said. “In this hour of grief, we share in the family’s pain and offer our deepest condolences and prayers.”
Authorities stated that the incident occurred after a ballistic missile was intercepted, with UAE air defence systems responding promptly to the threat.
Earlier this month, another Pakistani national, working as a driver, lost his life in Dubai’s Al Barsha area when debris from an aerial interception struck his vehicle shortly after Iftar.
In a separate case, a Pakistani citizen, Murid Zaman from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, was killed in Abu Dhabi’s Madinat Zayed area after being hit by missile fragments, according to diplomatic sources.
The incidents come amid rising tensions in the Middle East following military actions by the United States and Israel against Iran, which reportedly resulted in the deaths of senior figures, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
In response, Tehran has launched retaliatory strikes targeting Israel and Gulf countries that host US military bases, further escalating tensions in the region.
