Iran Will Not Compromise on People’s Security, Says FM Abbas Araghchi

Abbas Araghchi Criticizes US Shift on Russia Oil Policy
TEHRAN – March 19, 2026: Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that Iran will never compromise on the security of its people under any situation. His statement came during a phone call with Sweden’s Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard on Wednesday.
The strong message comes at a time of rising tensions in the region. Iran has increased its focus on national security and intelligence operations.
Iran Criticizes Sweden Over Spy Case
During the call, Abbas Araghchi criticized Sweden for supporting an individual convicted of spying. He called Sweden’s stance “regrettable” and said it ignores serious security threats.
The case involves Koorosh Keivani, who was accused of working for the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad.
Iranian officials said Keivani shared photos and videos of sensitive locations inside the country. He was later executed after legal proceedings were completed.
Spy Recruitment and Arrest Details
According to reports, Keivani was recruited in Sweden in 2023 by a Mossad agent known as “Ben.” The agent reportedly spoke Farsi and convinced him to work as a spy.
Keivani was arrested in June 2025 by the Intelligence Organization of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
His arrest came during a period of high tension, when Iran accused the United States and Israel of launching a 12-day conflict against the country.
Rising Tensions and Military Response
Iran says recent actions by the United States and Israel are illegal and aggressive. In response, Iranian forces carried out multiple retaliatory strikes.
Officials claim that at least 63 waves of strikes targeted key Israeli and American positions in the region.
These developments have raised concerns about regional stability and global security.
Iran Strengthens Intelligence and Security Measures
Following these events, Iran has increased its security alert level. Intelligence agencies are now more active in preventing espionage and sabotage attempts.
Authorities also reported strong public support in helping security forces identify suspicious activities.
Iran says protecting national security remains its top priority.
What This Means Going Forward
The statement by Abbas Araghchi shows Iran’s firm stance on security issues. The country is unlikely to soften its position amid ongoing geopolitical tensions.
The situation may further impact relations between Iran, Sweden, the United States, and Israel in the coming weeks.
