Karachi braces for more heavy rain and possible hail today

Rain likely to hit Karachi tomorrow: PMD
Karachi, March 19, 2026: More heavy rain is expected in Karachi today, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department. The city is already dealing with damage caused by strong winds and rain a day earlier.
Officials say rain is likely after the afternoon. Clouds are currently over the sea and may move towards the city. One or two spells of heavy rain are expected. Rainfall may reach 50 mm or more in some areas.
There is also a chance of hail in certain parts of the city. However, wind speeds are expected to be lower than yesterday. Authorities have warned people to stay cautious.
The weather department said strong winds earlier caused several incidents, including billboards falling in different areas. The city administration had been alerted about the risk.
The rain may continue during the first day of Eid with light showers expected. A westerly weather system may also bring rain to Sindh, including Karachi, from March 24 to 27.
Heavy rain and strong winds hit many areas of the city on Wednesday. These included North Nazimabad, North Karachi, Surjani, FB Area, Saddar, Clifton, Cantt, Railway Colony, Delhi Colony, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulshan-e-Jamal, and Garden.
Wind speeds reached dangerous levels. Officials recorded 90 km/h on Shara-e-Faisal and 97 km/h in Maripur.
At least 19 people died in rain-related incidents across the city. Most deaths were caused by accidents during strong winds and storms.
Authorities are urging residents to avoid unnecessary travel and stay indoors during heavy rain. Emergency services remain on alert as the situation continues to develop.
