OGDCL Discovers Oil and Gas Reserves in Sindh
Mari Energies Ltd. has announced a significant gas and condensate discovery at its Shams-1 exploratory well in Sindh, Pakistan. The company confirmed the discovery through a filing to the Pakistan Stock Exchange.
The Shams-1 well is situated in the Mari Development and Production Lease (D&PL) area in Ghotki district, Sindh. Drilling began on January 30, 2026, and reached a total depth of 3,075 meters.
During testing, the well produced approximately 47.98 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas and 64 barrels per day of condensate. The well also recorded a stabilized wellhead flowing pressure of 2,404 psig.
The discovery was made in the Lower Goru-B sand formation, which is a key hydrocarbon-bearing zone in the region.
Mari Energies operates the block with a 100% working interest. The company expects the find to support Pakistan’s domestic energy production and help address ongoing gas shortages in the country.
