PSX Rises as Hopes of Middle East Calm Improve Investor Mood

PSX rebounds as KSE-100 index jumps nearly 10,000 points
Karachi, March 24, 2026: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) moved higher on Tuesday as investor confidence improved due to hopes that tensions in the Middle East may ease. Reports suggesting Pakistan could play a mediating role between the United States and Iran also supported the market.
The benchmark KSE-100 Index showed strong movement during trading hours. It reached a high of 157,442 points, gaining over 4,700 points. At its lowest, the index was still up by more than 1,300 points compared to the previous close of 152,740 points. This shows that buying activity remained strong throughout the session.
Market experts said investors were encouraged by global developments. News that the United States had delayed possible military action against Iran helped reduce fears of further escalation. This created a positive environment for stocks.
Analysts also said Pakistan’s possible role in easing tensions added to the positive sentiment. Investors viewed this as a sign of the country’s growing importance in regional diplomacy.
However, uncertainty still remains. Iran has denied any direct talks with the United States. Officials there have also indicated that tensions are not fully resolved, especially around the Strait of Hormuz, which is a key route for global oil supply.
Global markets also reacted to the situation. Stock markets across Asia moved upward earlier in the day, though gains slowed later. Oil prices, which had fallen sharply before, showed slight recovery but remained unstable.
Experts believe the future direction of the PSX will depend on further developments in the Middle East. Investors are also closely watching local factors, including post-Ramazan market activity and upcoming inflation data.
Research firms say the market still has room to grow if tensions continue to ease. They noted that current stock valuations are attractive, which could bring more investors back into the market.
