Pakistan Hosts Quadrilateral Foreign Ministers Meeting in Islamabad

29 March, 2026 13:28

Pakistan has taken a central diplomatic role by hosting a high-level quadrilateral meeting in Islamabad, bringing together foreign ministers from key regional countries to discuss ongoing tensions in the Middle East.

The meeting, chaired by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, includes top diplomats from Türkiye, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia. Among the participants are Hakan Fidan, Badr Abdelatty, and Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud.

The talks are focused on de-escalating the ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, as well as addressing its broader regional implications. Pakistan is positioning itself as a facilitator of dialogue aimed at restoring stability in the region.

The Turkish and Egyptian foreign ministers arrived earlier in Islamabad and held bilateral discussions with Ishaq Dar at the Foreign Office. These meetings covered both bilateral relations and the evolving regional situation.

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan is also expected to join the discussions, completing the four-nation participation in what is seen as a critical diplomatic effort.

The visiting leaders are scheduled to hold consultations on key regional developments and are also expected to meet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during their visit.

Speaking ahead of the meeting, Hakan Fidan emphasized the urgency of diplomatic engagement, stating that the primary goal is to end the ongoing conflict. He noted, “It now seems that phase of talks has come around”.

Fidan further revealed that communication channels have been established with key stakeholders, including the United States and Iran. “It now seems that phase of talks has come around,” he reiterated, adding, “We are also keeping Iranians aware about the dialogue”.

He stressed the importance of continued efforts toward peace, saying, “We would work for the peace without losing the hope”. He also pointed out that Iran’s past experiences have created a lack of trust in dialogue processes.

Highlighting global sentiment, Fidan stated, “Entire world expects an early end of this unjust war,” underlining the urgency for a diplomatic resolution.

The quadrilateral meeting reflects growing international concern over the escalating conflict and signals a coordinated effort by major Muslim countries to push for peace and stability in the Middle East.
