Balochistan residents question Taliban response to Pakistan’s support
QUETTA – Citizens in different parts of Balochistan have described Pakistan’s four-decade-long hosting of Afghan refugees as a shining example of traditional hospitality and brotherhood, saying that hostility in return for this kindness is in no way acceptable.
Citizens said that Pakistan not only sheltered Afghans in the most difficult circumstances but also provided them with basic facilities like housing, education and employment. They said that the Pakistani people, despite their limited resources, supported the Afghan refugees like their brothers.
Locals expressed regret that the Afghan Taliban, in return for this sincerity, promoted terrorism in Pakistan, which is a very worrying and intolerable act.
According to citizens, instead of taking effective steps to establish peace, the Afghan Taliban are busy sheltering extremist elements, which is directly affecting the peace and stability of Pakistan.
The growing criticism of the Afghan Taliban by the people of Balochistan reflects the fact that the people are deeply dissatisfied with terrorism and unrest and desire lasting peace in the region.
