Sindh govt announces transport subsidy to control fares

06 April, 2026 15:19

The Government of Sindh has announced a targeted public transport subsidy program to keep fares stable and provide relief to people.

According to Sharjeel Inam Memon, the program has been finalized. He said the main aim is to support the public and stop transport fares from increasing.

He explained that the transport sector has been under heavy pressure due to the sharp rise in petrol and diesel prices. To reduce this burden, the government has introduced a targeted fuel differential subsidy so that people do not face extra costs.

Sharjeel Memon also said that transporters will not be allowed to increase fares. They must follow government rules and ensure compliance.

To make the system transparent, the government will launch a complete digital and app-based system for monitoring.

In addition, every motorcycle owner registered with the excise department will receive a fuel subsidy of Rs 2,000.

Overall, the program is aimed at giving relief to citizens and controlling transport costs across the province.
