Google Play Store update brings review search for Android apps
Finding the right app on Android can be tricky, especially with so many choices available. Reading user reviews helps, but going through thousands of comments can be tiring. To make this easier, Google has added a search feature for reviews on the Play Store.
With this new tool, you can search for specific information within user reviews on any app listing. The feature was first seen in testing last November, and Google has now officially rolled it out with a recent Play Store update.
To use it, tap the ratings at the top of an app and select “See all reviews.” You can also scroll to the Reviews and Ratings section and tap the magnifying glass icon below the AI-generated review summary. This brings the review section to the top and shows a search bar.
Type a few words and tap the search icon to see reviews that include your terms. Currently, the search only shows exact matches and does not update results as you type. Single-word searches will not work, so you need to type at least two words. You can also use the suggestions under the search bar for common issues.
The review search is available for all users with Play Store version 50.7.24-31. If you don’t see it, update your Play Store by tapping your profile picture, going to Settings > About > Update Play Store.
This new feature makes it much easier to find the answers you need in app reviews without scrolling endlessly.
