Islamabad announces two-day public holiday
ISLAMABAD: Authorities in Islamabad have announced a two-day public holiday on Thursday and Friday, April 9 and 10, according to an official notification.
All government offices in the federal capital will remain closed during these days. However, essential services will continue to operate to ensure public convenience.
Institutions like the Islamabad Capital Territory administration, Capital Development Authority, and Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad will keep working as usual. Law enforcement and utility services, including Islamabad Police, IESCO, Sui gas company, and hospitals, will also remain open.
The government said this step is to avoid disruption and make sure important services are available during the holidays.

The announcement comes as important talks between Iran and the United States are expected to take place in Islamabad. Iran’s parliamentary speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and US Vice President JD Vance are likely to lead their delegations.
These talks are seen as very important after recent tensions between the two countries.
Meanwhile, Shehbaz Sharif and Masoud Pezeshkian also held a long phone call, where they discussed the ceasefire, upcoming talks, and regional situation. Pakistan has offered to host the negotiations, and Iran has accepted the offer.
