PM Shehbaz Meets US Vice President as Islamabad Peace Talks Begin
US Vice President JD Vance met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and discussed important regional issues, including bilateral relations.
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner were also present at the meeting with JD Vance, while Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also accompanied the prime minister from Pakistan.
According to the statement, the meeting discussed in detail the prospects for peace, stability, and mutual cooperation in the region.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Shehba Sharif said that Pakistan will continue its efforts to establish lasting peace in the region.
The White House has also confirmed that US Vice President JD Vance met with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The Prime Minister’s Office statement said that important regional issues were discussed in detail in the meeting and the two countries agreed to work together for peace and stability in the region.
The statement further stated that the Prime Minister appreciated the constructive and positive participation of the Iranian and American delegations in the talks and said that the Islamabad talks could prove to be an important step towards sustainable and lasting peace in the region.
Reiterating his commitment to continue facilitating the promotion of peace in the region, Shahbaz Sharif said that he hoped the talks would further promote trust and cooperation between the two sides.
