Rain Forecast for Lahore, Islamabad as PMD Predicts Storms from April 16

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms across several parts of the country from April 16 to April 19, 2026, due to a strong westerly weather system approaching northern regions.

According to the latest advisory, cities including Lahore and Islamabad are expected to receive rain accompanied by gusty winds and possible thunderstorms between April 16 and April 18. Some areas may also experience isolated hailstorms during this period.

In Punjab, the weather system will affect multiple districts including Rawalpindi, Murree, Attock, Chakwal, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, and Sialkot. Strong winds and thunderstorms are also likely in southern districts such as Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Khanewal.

The northern region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is expected to see more intense weather activity. Heavy rain, thunderstorms, and hailstorms are likely in areas such as Peshawar, Swat, Chitral, Abbottabad, and Mansehra from the evening of April 16 to April 19, with occasional gaps.

In Gilgit-Baltistan, rain and thunderstorms with snowfall over mountains are predicted in districts like Skardu, Hunza, and Gilgit during the same period.

Meanwhile, Azad Kashmir is expected to receive rain and thunderstorms from April 17 to April 19, with moderate to heavy rainfall likely on April 18 and 19.

Parts of Balochistan, including Quetta, Zhob, and Ziarat, may also experience rain and thunderstorms on April 17 and 18.

However, in upper Sindh, dry conditions will persist, but strong winds and dust storms are expected between April 16 and April 18.

The weather department has advised citizens, especially travelers and farmers, to stay updated with forecasts and take necessary precautions during this period of unstable weather conditions.
