China Rejects Iran Satellite Intelligence Claims, Calls Report “Fabricated” Amid US Base Targeting Allegations

15 April, 2026 18:49

China has strongly denied allegations that it provided satellite intelligence to Iran for targeting US military bases in the Middle East, dismissing a report by the Financial Times as “fabricated.”

The report claimed that Iran had secretly obtained a Chinese-built satellite in late 2024, allegedly enabling it to monitor and strike US military installations across the region. According to the publication, the satellite—identified as TEE-01B—was developed and launched by Earth Eye Co and later acquired by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Aerospace Force.

It further alleged that Iranian commanders used the satellite to track key US bases, supported by coordinate data, satellite imagery, and orbital analysis. The images were reportedly captured before and after drone and missile strikes in March.

Additionally, the report suggested that Iran gained access to ground station services operated by Emposat, which has a global network spanning Asia and Latin America.

However, China firmly rejected these claims. In a statement, the Chinese foreign ministry said: “Recently, some forces have been keen on fabricating rumours and maliciously associating them with China.”

“China firmly opposes this kind of practice driven by ulterior motives,” the statement added.

Separately, China’s embassy in Washington also denied the allegations, stating: “We firmly oppose relevant parties spreading speculative and insinuative disinformation against China.”

The report also referenced surveillance of locations such as Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia, as well as sites in Jordan, Bahrain, and Iraq, around the time of reported attacks claimed by Iranian forces.

Meanwhile, the White House, CIA, and Pentagon have not issued official responses to the claims.

Reuters noted that it was unable to independently verify the report.

The controversy comes amid rising tensions in the region, with concerns over military escalation and the role of global powers continuing to grow.
