Ambassador Dr. Oumer Calls on Commerce Minister of Pakistan

H.E. Dr. Oumer Hussien Oba, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE), called on H.E. Jam Kamal Khan, Federal Minister for Commerce of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, on Thursday at the Ministry of Commerce in Islamabad.

During the meeting, both sides held comprehensive discussions on various initiatives aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, connectivity, tourism, and cultural exchange to further strengthen economic and diplomatic relations.

They also agreed on establishing a Joint Trade Committee in accordance with the bilateral trade agreement signed in 2023 between the two countries.

Ambassador Dr. Oumer underlined the importance of improved connectivity between Ethiopia and Pakistan, emphasizing that better logistics are essential to promote trade, investment, and tourism. He highlighted Ethiopia’s vast investment potential, particularly in agriculture, manufacturing, ICT, and mining, and invited the Pakistani business community to explore these opportunities.

The Federal Minister acknowledged the significant growth potential across these sectors and recalled his recent visit to Ethiopia during Pakistan’s Single Country Exhibition held in Addis Ababa in 2025. He assured the Ambassador of Pakistan’s full support and commitment to building a stronger, more integrated, and mutually beneficial economic partnership between the two nations.
