A US team has come to Islamabad. Pakistan is set to host the next talks between the US and Iran, sources say on Sunday.
Teams from other countries are starting to arrive for the big talks, sources say.
Leaders in Islamabad and Rawalpindi upped safety in the main city. They shut the Red Zone to cars as Pakistan gets ready for foreign guests.
This comes after news of the second talks between US and Iran teams, set for next week.
Islamabad police said in a note that the Red Zone and wider area stay shut to all cars until told more. This is due to foreign guests.
They told people to take other roads and help traffic cops for easy move and safety.
Also, leaders in Islamabad and Rawalpindi stopped all people and goods buses right away in the two cities.
Islamabad’s top official stopped big trucks and people buses until more news, with no reason given.
“Heavy transport and public transport in the city are being suspended until further orders. Citizens are earnestly requested to cooperate with the security agencies,” the Islamabad DC posted on X.
In Rawalpindi, all private, people, and goods buses stopped at once. The official said more news later.
“All private, public and goods transport in Rawalpindi is hereby suspended with immediate effect. Further updates will be shared,” the Rawalpindi DC said on X.
Safety Steps
The day before, Rawalpindi cops went on high watch by order of top cop Syed Khalid Mahmood Hamdani.
“Rawalpindi Police have placed the city on high security alert and implemented extraordinary arrangements to ensure foolproof security in view of the movement of foreign delegations,” state news APP said.
Over 10,000 cops were put in the city for safety jobs. More than 600 check points were set up. All in and out spots got tight watch.
Top commando teams and trained shooters got safety jobs. Elite Force, Dolphin Force, station cars, and fast teams patrolled the city.
Search, clear, check, and smart ops got stronger. Watch on odd people went on in Rawalpindi.
Safety around key spots, main public and private places, and big homes got tighter. Safe City cams, CCTV, and new watch tools ran all day.
Leaders in the two cities gave a two-day break on April 10 and 11 for the big US-Iran talks in Pakistan.
PM Shehbaz Sharif asked US and Iran teams for peace talks after he set a two-week stop-fight on April 8.
The Middle East fight started February 28 after US and Israel hits. It grew fast as Iran shut the Strait of Hormuz and hit back at Israel and US spots in the Gulf.
After the PM-set stop-fight, the sides talked in Islamabad on many fights. Talks may lead to full end.
Pakistan kept working hard to fix old fights. This includes top army man Asim Munir’s trip to Tehran to meet Iran’s top leaders.
A day after Munir’s trip, Iran opened the Strait of Hormuz, saying Israel and Lebanon agreed to stop-fight.
But Iran shut it again, saying US ships block Iranian ports.
Iran’s top talk man Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said talks with US made “progress,” but “many gaps and some fundamental points remain.”
“We are still far from the final discussion,” said Ghalibaf on TV today.
US leader Donald Trump said “very good conversations” go on with Iran, but told Tehran not to “blackmail” the US.
