Iran Army Chief Amir Hatami Vows Firm Military Response to Any Threat Against National Sovereignty
Iran’s Army Commander-in-Chief has issued a strong warning, stating that the country’s Armed Forces will respond firmly to any threat or act of hostility against Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
In a message addressed to the Iranian nation on Friday, Major General Amir Hatami emphasized that the military has always depended on the support of the Iranian people in defending the country. He stressed that strengthening Iran’s defense capabilities remains a top priority, adding that the Army is fully committed to its mission of safeguarding national independence and territorial integrity.
Marking Iranian Teachers’ Day, Hatami highlighted the role of education and ideological guidance in strengthening the Armed Forces. He said the military has “drawn upon the wisdom of dedicated educators and the teachings of the Leaders of the Islamic Revolution to bolster their combat readiness.”
Iran’s Armed Forces have demonstrated resilience following a period of heightened regional tensions, including reported 40 days of airstrikes by the United States and Israel after what Tehran described as an unprovoked act of aggression. In response, Iranian forces launched more than 100 waves of missile and drone strikes targeting Israeli positions and US bases in the Persian Gulf region.
Although a ceasefire between Tehran and Washington was agreed upon in early April, tensions remain high. US President Donald Trump has continued to issue threats of military action while maintaining restrictions described by Iran as a naval blockade on its ports in the Persian Gulf.
Iran has condemned the blockade as an act of piracy, warning that any threat to its maritime infrastructure in the Persian Gulf or the Sea of Oman would lead to broader regional consequences.
Meanwhile, Iranian authorities have also restricted maritime traffic through the strategic Strait of Hormuz, allowing passage only to vessels authorized by Iranian officials.
