US Congress Commends Pakistan for Mediating Peace Efforts Between US, Israel and Iran
US Congressman Al Green has introduced a nonbinding resolution in the House of Representatives recognizing Pakistan for its diplomatic efforts in helping mediate peace discussions involving the United States, Israel, and Iran.
The resolution, presented during the 119th Congress, 2nd Session, describes Pakistan as an important neutral mediator that assisted in facilitating negotiations among the involved parties. It also acknowledges Pakistan’s willingness to host diplomatic delegations despite operational and logistical difficulties, including widespread city shutdowns.
According to the measure, “Pakistan has clearly demonstrated its desire to facilitate an end to the war between the United States and Israel with Iran.” The resolution further states that Pakistan played an “integral role” by offering a “secure and reliable location for peace talks.”
The document highlights the human and financial impact of the conflict, noting that at least 13 American service members have been killed and more than 399 injured. It also states that the conflict is costing the United States approximately $1 billion per day.
The resolution warns that any further escalation, particularly the deployment of US ground forces into Iran, “would create strife, disunity, and turmoil within the United States of America.”
It further argues that ending the conflict could contribute to stabilizing global energy markets and petroleum prices.
Although several countries attempted diplomatic mediation, the resolution claims Pakistan emerged as the primary facilitator in the peace process. The official title of the measure is “Original Resolution Commending the Islamic Republic of Pakistan for its efforts to facilitate peace between the United States and Israel with Iran.”
The resolution concludes by stating that the House “acknowledges and commends the Islamic Republic of Pakistan for its efforts to facilitate a lasting peace between the United States and Israel with Iran.”
