Petrol prices in Pakistan likely to increase again

08 May, 2026 16:04

Petrol prices in Pakistan are expected to increase by around Rs4.75 per liter in the next price review, while the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) is likely to stay almost the same.

The expected increase is linked to rising international oil prices and higher refinery costs. However, the final decision is still awaiting government approval.

Last Thursday, the government increased petrol prices by Rs6.51 per liter and HSD prices by Rs19.39 per liter. After the latest increase, petrol is now priced at Rs399.86 per liter, while HSD costs Rs399.58 per liter.

Since February 28, petrol prices in Pakistan have gone up by nearly Rs149 per liter. Experts say the continuous increase is mainly due to global oil supply problems and regional tensions that have pushed international oil prices higher.

The rising fuel prices are likely to increase inflation, transportation costs, and daily living expenses, creating more financial pressure for both the public and businesses.
