LESCO CEO directs removal of double electricity connections in 7 days
LAHORE: The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has directed the removal of all double source electricity connections within one week to improve safety.
The decision was taken after a tragic incident in Mustafabad, where a lineman lost his life while working on a line linked with a double source connection.
LESCO’s Chief Executive Officer issued the order and said the step is necessary to prevent such accidents in the future. The directive applies to both government and private residential areas.
Following the incident, eight officials were suspended. The LESCO CEO also warned that XENs and SDOs could be removed from their posts if any further accidents occur due to double source connections.
Under the new rules, only important institutions such as hospitals, the Chief Minister’s House, and the Governor’s House will be allowed to keep double source electricity supply.
The company has instructed all departments to ensure strict compliance with these safety measures.
Lahore Electric Supply Company is responsible for providing electricity to five districts in Punjab, including Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Okara, and Nankana Sahib, serving both residential and commercial consumers.
