Gas supply to remain suspended in Karachi on May 23-24 – check affected areas

KARACHI: Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has announced a temporary gas suspension in different areas of Karachi due to pipeline work near the NIPA flyover on the BRT route.

According to the company, the work includes lowering a 20-inch high-pressure gas pipeline on the request of Trans Karachi.

The shutdown will take place from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM during the night of May 23 and 24, 2026. However, SSGC said the work may continue until 8:00 AM because of technical requirements.

Areas likely to face gas suspension include Gulshan-e-Iqbal, PIB Colony, Jamshed Road, Lines Area, PHS Society, Saddar, parts of Kharadar, Lyari, Garden, and nearby localities.

Important facilities such as Liaquat National Hospital, Aga Khan Hospital, and Karachi Central Prison may also be affected.

SSGC said consumers in Site Industrial Area could experience low gas pressure during the work.

The company assured residents that gas supply will be restored after the completion of the pipeline work and apologized for the inconvenience.
