Karachi Weather Today: Hot and Humid Weather with 43°C Feels-Like Temperature

Karachi is set to endure hot and humid conditions as the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) issued its latest forecast on Sunday, warning of intense heat continuing across the country with temperatures surpassing 40 degrees Celsius in multiple districts.

The Met Office projected maximum temperatures in Karachi to range between 35°C and 37°C, while the minimum is expected to stay around 30°C overnight. More strikingly, the apparent temperature — or “feels like” reading — is anticipated to reach 43°C in the city by Monday, significantly amplifying the heat stress on residents.

Southwesterly winds are currently blowing across the city at a speed of 20 kilometres per hour. Meteorologists have also cautioned that heatwave conditions could develop across the broader region in the coming week.

In its June to August 2026 seasonal outlook, the PMD highlighted key global climate drivers at play. The Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) is currently in a neutral phase but is projected to transition into a positive phase by July 2026. Meanwhile, the El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO) has already entered a positive phase and is expected to intensify further over the season.

Against this backdrop, the Met Office has indicated that normal to below-normal rainfall is expected across the majority of Pakistan between June and August, with the most significant deficits likely in the northeastern parts of Punjab. A high probability of below-normal precipitation has been forecast for Punjab, Sindh, lower Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and most of Balochistan.

On the other hand, the northern regions are expected to fare comparatively better. Near-normal to slightly above-normal rainfall is anticipated over Gilgit-Baltistan, the adjoining areas of northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Kashmir — offering some relief to the upper reaches of the country amid an otherwise dry summer outlook.
