07 June, 2026 20:34

Provisional and unofficial results from the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly (GBA) General Elections 2026 have begun emerging from all constituencies spread across the region. Early figures indicate a fiercely competitive multi-party contest, with Independents, Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP), Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) each claiming early leads across different seats.

Gilgit Division

In GBA-1, PML-N’s Shafiq Uddin is leading, with PPP’s Amjad Hussain as runner-up. In GBA-2 (Gilgit-II), PPP’s Jameel Ahmed holds the lead, with PML-N’s Hafiz Hafeez-ur-Rehman in second place — a notable reversal from earlier station-wise trends. In GBA-3 (Gilgit-III), IPP’s Captain Shafi is ahead, followed by PML-N’s Dr Iqbal. GBA-5 shows PML-N’s Javaid Ali Manwa in front, with MWM’s Riaz Akbar as runner-up, while GBA-6 presents an all-independent contest, with Naiknam leading over Raja Nazeem.

In a newly updated result, GBA-10 sees IPP’s Wazir Muhammad Khan leading, with PML-N’s Wazir Hassan as runner-up — a constituency for which no earlier data had been available.

Baltistan Division

In GBA-4 (Nagar-I), Islami Tehrik Pakistan’s Ayub Waziri is leading, with PPP’s Muhammad Ali Akhtar in second. GBA-7 (Skardu-I) sees IPP’s Raja Jalal Hussain ahead of PML-N’s Akbar Khan. In GBA-8, PPP’s Muhammad Ali Shah leads, with MWM’s Kazim Meisam as runner-up. GBA-9 (Skardu) is being led by Independent candidate Wazir Muhammad Saleem, ahead of PPP’s Fida Noshad. GBA-11 (Kharmang) shows PML-N’s Syed Mohainuddin Rizvi in front, with PPP’s Iqbal Hassan as runner-up.

In GBA-12 (Shigar), updated unofficial figures from 15 polling stations show a significant lead for PPP’s Imran Nadeem: “PPP’s Imran Nadeem — 3,866 votes, Islami Tehrik Pakistan’s Raja Azam Khan — 2,126 votes, PML-N’s Tahir Shagri — 1,677 votes, MWM’s Saeed Shagri — 270 votes, Independent Hassan Shagri — 228 votes.” Earlier constituency-wide provisional figures had placed Raja Azam Khan of Islami Tehrik Pakistan ahead, with Imran Nadeem as runner-up — indicating a dynamic and evolving count.

Diamer Division

In GBA-14, IPP’s Shams Lone is leading, followed by PML-N’s Rana Farooq. GBA-15 (Astore-I) sees Independent candidate Dilpazir ahead, with IPP’s Shah Beg as runner-up. GBA-16 (Diamer-II) is being led by Independent Imam Malik, with IPP’s Atiqullah in second. In GBA-17 (Diamer-III), PPP’s Muhammad Naseem is ahead of JUI-F’s Rehmat Khaliq, while GBA-18 (Diamer-IV) shows IPP’s Gulbar Khan leading over PML-N’s Malik Kifayat.

Astore and Ghanche Divisions

GBA-13 (Astore-II) shows PML-N’s Rana Farman ahead, with Fahad Hanif as runner-up. In GBA-19 (Ghizer-I), PPP’s Syed Jalal Ali is leading, followed by BNF’s Nawaz Khan. GBA-23 (Ghanche-II) sees Independent Anwar Ali ahead, with Haji Hameed as runner-up. GBA-24 has Independent Dr Asad Shafiq in the lead, followed by PPP’s Engineer Ishmael.

In GBA-20, PML-N’s Abdul Jahan is leading, with PPP’s Nazir Ahmed as runner-up. In GBA-21, PML-N’s Ghulam Muhammad is ahead, followed by PPP’s Ayub Shah. In GBA-22, PML-N’s Ibrahim Sanai is leading, with PPP’s Ashiq Hussain as runner-up. The addition of GBA-20, GBA-21, and GBA-22 significantly strengthens PML-N’s overall tally across the assembly.

All figures reported are provisional, unofficial, and subject to change. The Election Commission of Gilgit-Baltistan has not yet issued final certified results for any constituency. Counting continues across the region, and final outcomes are expected once all polling station tallies are consolidated and formally verified.
