ISLAMABAD: India has named senior diplomat Dr Satyanjal Pandey as its next chargé d’affaires in Pakistan, signaling a routine leadership transition at the Indian High Commission in Islamabad, diplomatic sources revealed.

The nomination has received formal approval from Pakistani authorities, paving the way for Dr Pandey to assume his new role in the coming weeks.

He currently serves as India’s deputy high commissioner in Sri Lanka and is expected to relocate to Islamabad shortly.

According to diplomatic sources, Dr Pandey will replace Dr Geetika Srivastava, who has completed her tenure in Pakistan.

Following the conclusion of her assignment, she is set to return to India after overseeing the mission during a significant period in bilateral relations.

The appointment is part of the regular rotation of diplomatic personnel and reflects ongoing administrative changes within India’s Foreign Service.

Once in Islamabad, Dr Pandey will take charge of the Indian mission’s day-to-day diplomatic responsibilities and represent New Delhi’s interests in Pakistan.

Officials familiar with the development said all necessary clearances have been granted, and preparations are underway for his arrival in Islamabad in the near future
