Govt Announces Cut in Petrol, Diesel Prices — Check Here
The Pakistani government has announced a reduction in fuel prices, cutting petrol by Rs4 per litre and high-speed diesel by Rs2 per litre for the coming week.
According to the Ministry of Petroleum, the new price of petrol stands at Rs373.78 per litre, while diesel will now be sold at Rs378.78 per litre. The updated rates will be in effect for the next seven days.
This marks the second consecutive weekly reduction in petrol prices, following a Rs4 per litre cut announced last week. Prior to that, the government had slashed both petrol and diesel prices by Rs22 per litre, calling the move an “Eid gift” for citizens.
These latest price cuts come months after a significant spike in fuel prices caused by regional instability. Tensions escalated in February when the United States and Israel carried out attacks on Iran, prompting Tehran to retaliate with strikes and close the Strait of Hormuz. The closure disrupted global oil supply chains and drove up international crude prices.
