Israeli Strikes in Southern Lebanon Kill at Least 16, Officials Say

At least 16 people were killed and 12 others injured in Israeli strikes on the Nabatieh district in southern Lebanon, according to the Lebanese civil defense agency. Emergency crews have been responding since early morning as attacks reportedly continued across the region.
The escalation comes a day after Lebanon’s Health Ministry reported at least 47 deaths and 97 injuries from a series of airstrikes across southern and eastern Lebanon, including in the districts of Nabatieh, Jezzine, and Baalbek. In the town of Harouf, nine people—including three women—were reportedly killed, while six others died in Doueir, among them a child and a woman.
The latest violence marks a significant escalation in cross-border hostilities involving Israel and Hezbollah-linked areas in Lebanon, raising concerns over regional stability despite ongoing diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions. Authorities on the ground say rescue and recovery operations are continuing as casualty figures may rise.
