Breaking Bad Star Giancarlo Esposito Embraces Islam in Saudi Arabia

Giancarlo Esposito, the Hollywood actor best known for playing Gus Fring in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, has reportedly embraced Islam during a stay in Saudi Arabia. His portrayal of the calculating drug kingpin remains one of television’s most celebrated performances, and now the actor finds himself at the centre of a different kind of attention as news of his conversion spreads online.

According to Turki Al-Sheikh, Chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority, Esposito recited the Shahada, the Islamic declaration of faith, while in the Kingdom filming the upcoming movie “7 Dogs.” Al-Sheikh said the actor later joined members of the production team in prayer at a mosque.

A video circulating on social media shows Esposito praying alongside the film crew inside the mosque, and the clip has been widely shared since it surfaced.

The news has triggered a wave of reaction online, with Muslims around the world welcoming the actor. One user wrote, “Allahuma Barik.” Another added, “Congratulations Gus.” One said, “He is praying well for a new Muslim.”
