Core Member Iftikhar Mehmood Breaks Away from Banned Action Committee

The banned “Awami Action Committee” has suffered another major setback after Iftikhar Mehmood, a core member from Bagh, announced that he is distancing himself from the group.

According to reports, members of the committee are now publicly separating themselves from what is being described as a disruptive group allegedly involved in spreading unrest and violence in Azad Jammu and Kashmir under external influence.

In a video message, core member Iftikhar Mehmood rejected the group’s activities and appealed to young people to return to positive and constructive politics.

He said that as a core member of the banned Action Committee and Chairman of the All Azad Kashmir Traders Association, he strongly disagrees with the group’s current direction.

“I announce complete disassociation and boycott of the banned Action Committee involved in anti-state violent activities,” Iftikhar Mehmood said.

He added that what was originally a peaceful movement had been diverted and misused to damage the relationship between Pakistan and Kashmir.

He further stated that certain individuals within the group were using the platform to spread anti-Pakistan narratives.

He urged the youth not to sacrifice their future for such activities, which he described as harmful and against national interest.

He also clarified that he has no connection, past or present, with any anti-state or separatist organisation.

Earlier, other core members including Anjum Zaman and Advocate Amjad Ali Khan had also announced their separation from the committee.

Experts believe that the statement by Iftikhar Mehmood exposes the internal divisions within the group and its alleged disruptive agenda.

They also say that the growing number of resignations shows that people in Azad Kashmir are rejecting the group’s objectives and undermining its influence.
