Iran Condemns Reported US Airstrikes Alleges Violation of Ceasefire Understanding

27 June, 2026 14:50

Iran’s Foreign Ministry has condemned reported U.S. airstrikes targeting several locations along the country’s southern coast, describing them as a “flagrant violation” of a Pakistan-mediated memorandum of understanding (MoU). In a statement issued on Saturday, the ministry said the strikes on what it described as coastal monitoring facilities breached international law and violated the terms of the reported ceasefire arrangement.

The ministry asserted that the attacks violated Article 2(4) of the United Nations Charter, which prohibits the use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of states. It also alleged that simultaneous Israeli military action in Lebanon, carried out in coordination with the United States, constituted another breach of the same understanding.

Iran said it would continue to defend its sovereignty, security, and national interests, citing its right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter. The United States and Israel had not immediately responded to the Iranian allegations at the time of the statement.
