PIA Privatization Completed as New Company Takes Over Management

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has officially completed its privatization process, with a new company taking over the airline’s management and operations. According to reports, ownership of the national carrier has been formally transferred to new stakeholders.

The Arif Habib Consortium’s subsidiary, PIA Equity Limited, has assumed control of the airline after acquiring it for 180 billion rupees. Under the agreement, 55 billion rupees will go to the government, while 125 billion rupees will be invested back into PIA as part of a restructuring and modernization plan.

Officials said the transition marks a major step in the government’s broader privatization strategy aimed at improving efficiency and financial stability in state-owned enterprises.
