Iran Says It Will Closely Monitor US Compliance With War-Termination Deal

Iran’s Foreign Ministry has said it will closely monitor the United States’ compliance with a war-termination memorandum of understanding (MoU), warning that Tehran will not fulfill its commitments unilaterally. Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said Iran’s approach is based on the principle of “commitment in exchange for commitment,” meaning each side must implement its obligations simultaneously.
Speaking at a press briefing on Tuesday, Baghaei stated that Iran would assess US actions “moment by moment” and only proceed with its own commitments if the other party does the same. He emphasized that no agreement should require unilateral implementation by one side.
The remarks come amid ongoing tensions between the United States and Iran over the implementation of a reported 14-point MoU signed in mid-June. According to Iranian accounts, the agreement was intended to end recent hostilities, ease restrictions, and include provisions related to sanctions relief and frozen assets, though details and verification of implementation remain contested.
