Kahna Tuition Centre Tragedy; Letter Sent to Punjab Governor, Chief Minister Seeking Judicial Probe

02 July, 2026 12:24

Lahore: A formal request has been submitted to establish a judicial tribunal to investigate the tragic roof collapse at a tuition centre in Lahore’s Kahna area.

The letter, sent by Advocate Muhammad Azhar Siddique to the Governor of Punjab, the Chief Minister of Punjab, and other relevant authorities, states that the incident at the unregistered tuition centre reflects serious negligence and the failure of the concerned government departments to enforce safety regulations.

The petition urges the provincial government to ensure the registration of all unregistered educational institutions and calls for the immediate formation of a judicial tribunal to conduct an independent and transparent investigation into the Kahna tragedy.

Meanwhile, a female teacher who was injured in the incident has spoken publicly about the circumstances surrounding the building.

According to the teacher, the roof had been constructed using a basic concrete structure, but the family could not afford to install a reinforced concrete slab. She also clarified that no construction work was underway at the time of the collapse.

She further revealed that her husband earns a living by operating a fruit cart near their home.

The roof collapse, which occurred two days ago at the tuition centre in Lahore’s Kahna locality, claimed the lives of 14 children and left several others injured, prompting widespread calls for accountability and stricter oversight of privately operated educational facilities.
