PM Shehbaz Sharif Reaffirms Commitment to FBR Reforms and Digital Tax System

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that reforms in the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) remain a top priority of the government. He stated that officers with strong reputations have been posted in FBR field formations to improve efficiency and ensure better governance.

The prime minister emphasized that there is no place for corrupt elements within the FBR, adding that ongoing reforms are being further accelerated. He highlighted that expanding the tax net, ensuring transparency, and facilitating taxpayers are key government priorities.

Shehbaz Sharif said the new operating model of the FBR will be based on a digital and faceless taxation system aimed at reducing human interaction and increasing accountability. He also directed the formation of a high-level committee to review promotions of customs and Inland Revenue officers.

FBR officials thanked the prime minister for recognizing their performance and briefed him on the operational effectiveness of various field formations across different regions.
