Karachi Green Line Escalators Remain Out of Order at Several Stations

Several escalators installed at Karachi’s Green Line bus stations have remained out of service, causing difficulties for commuters, particularly elderly passengers.
The escalators at stations including Lasbela, Nazimabad and Model Park are reportedly not functioning, while complaints about non-operational escalators have also emerged from several other stations.
The prolonged closure of the escalators has made movement around the stations more difficult for senior citizens, who are being forced to use regular stairs to enter and exit the stations.
Passengers said the escalators were installed as part of the modern public transport project to facilitate commuters, but their continued unavailability has reduced the convenience expected from the facility.
Elderly citizens in particular face difficulties climbing stairs and moving between different levels of the stations, raising concerns over the maintenance of facilities provided under the Green Line project.
Commuters have called for the immediate restoration of the non-functional escalators and regular maintenance to ensure that the facilities remain operational and accessible to passengers.
