Jammu and Kashmir Was Never, Is Not and Will Never Be India’s Integral Part: Pakistan at UN

Pakistan has reiterated its position on Jammu and Kashmir at the United Nations, saying the disputed region was never an integral part of India and would not become one.
Exercising Pakistan’s right of reply during a UN General Assembly discussion, First Secretary Sarfraz Ahmed said Jammu and Kashmir was not an internal matter of India but an internationally recognized dispute.
He said the right of self-determination of the Kashmiri people was reflected in relevant UN Security Council resolutions and maintained that India’s refusal to implement those resolutions amounted to a violation of its international obligations.
Sarfraz Ahmed also raised concerns over the treatment of religious minorities in India, alleging that discrimination and violence against minorities had taken an organized form.
He further alleged that India was supporting and financing militant groups operating against Pakistan.
Pakistan’s representative said Islamabad remained committed to dialogue, diplomacy and the peaceful resolution of disputes.
India has consistently maintained a different position, describing Jammu and Kashmir as an integral part of the country. The issue continues to feature in UN discussions and remains a longstanding point of dispute between the two countries.
