Mbappe Condemns Racist Remarks by Paraguayan Senator After World Cup Match

France forward Kylian Mbappe has strongly criticized Paraguayan Senator Celeste Amarilla over racist remarks she made on social media following Paraguay’s defeat to France in the FIFA World Cup Round of 16. In a post on X, Mbappe described the senator as “despicable” and said she was unworthy of holding public office, accusing her of spreading hatred and racism.
Mbappe said Amarilla’s comments did not represent the people of Paraguay, praising the country’s players for their passion and historic achievements during the tournament. He added that her remarks had overshadowed the team’s World Cup campaign and vowed to continue speaking out against racism in football and society.
The French Football Federation (FFF) also condemned Amarilla’s comments, calling them “utterly abhorrent and unacceptable.” The federation announced plans to file criminal charges over the incident, as football authorities and public figures continue to denounce racism and discrimination in the sport.
