Trump Says US Did Not Need Assistance in Iran War, Discusses NATO and Turkey Ties

US President Donald Trump said the United States did not need assistance during the conflict with Iran, claiming that Washington handled the situation without outside support. Speaking ahead of the NATO summit in Turkey, Trump said NATO member countries were given billions of dollars to help protect their nations and strengthen collective security.
Trump said he had not initially wanted to attend the NATO summit but decided to participate because Turkey was hosting the event. He praised Turkey as a strong country with a large military and said Ankara could have joined the Iran conflict if it had chosen to do so. Trump also expressed confidence that Turkey shares the view that Iran should not possess nuclear weapons.
The US president also commented on Turkey’s defense relations, saying he had no concerns about Turkey acquiring F-35 fighter jets or purchasing Russian defense systems. Trump also criticized UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, calling him unpopular and expressing hope that he would no longer be in office in the future.
