Iran Issues Indictments Against Hundreds Linked to Anti-Iran Media Outlets

11 July, 2026 21:07

Iran’s Prosecutor General Mohammad Movahedi Azad has announced that indictments have been issued against more than 300 individuals allegedly linked to anti-Iran media outlets, as authorities intensify legal action against what they describe as organized activities targeting national security. He made the remarks during a meeting of the Attorney General’s Office’s Deputy Council on Saturday.

Movahedi Azad said the cases involve individuals associated with what Iranian officials call hostile media networks, including Persian-language television channels Iran International and Manoto. He added that the proceedings are separate from an indictment issued against Reza Pahlavi, the son of Iran’s former monarch, who has been accused by authorities of involvement in activities linked to unrest.

Iranian officials said the charges against Pahlavi were filed under provisions of the country’s Criminal Code related to incitement and national security offenses, which carry severe penalties. The latest legal actions come as Tehran continues its crackdown on individuals and organizations it accuses of attempting to undermine state security.
