Saudi Strike on Sana’a Airport Signals Escalation, Yemeni Officials says

13 July, 2026 17:52

Yemeni’s Foreign Ministry in Sana’a has condemned what it described as a Saudi attack on Sana’a International Airport, stating that the strike marks the end of the truce and the beginning of a new phase of the conflict. In a statement issued on Monday, the ministry said Yemen would move into a new stage aimed at fully reclaiming its rights, warning that Saudi Arabia would face significant strategic and military consequences for its actions.

Separately, Yemeni Armed Forces spokesperson Brigadier General Yahya Saree said the alleged Saudi attack “will not go unpunished,” adding that Riyadh had ended the de-escalation phase and would bear responsibility for any resulting developments. The remarks underscore growing tensions following the reported strike on the airport.

Meanwhile, Yemen’s Ministry of Transport said the bombardment of Sana’a International Airport and the violation of Yemeni airspace reflected Saudi Arabia’s determination to continue the blockade, which it claimed was backed by the United States and Israel. A senior Yemeni source also stated that the decision to break the siege on Sana’a airport was irreversible, emphasizing the armed forces’ high state of readiness for all possible scenarios.
