US Expands UAE Access to Advanced AI Chips Following Support During Iran Conflict

The United States has expanded the United Arab Emirates access to advanced artificial intelligence chips following Abu Dhabi’s military support during the war on Iran, according to a report by International sources. The report says the UAE assisted Washington by carrying out airstrikes, intercepting missiles, and helping maintain the flow of oil through the Strait of Hormuz during the conflict.
Under the new policy, the UAE’s leading artificial intelligence company, G42, will be allowed to freely purchase advanced AI chips from US firms such as Nvidia for at least nine months. The changes also remove licensing requirements that had applied to major US technology companies, including Microsoft and OpenAI, seeking to build data centers in the Gulf country.
The move follows a Trump administration decision announced on Friday to reclassify the UAE under a less restrictive US export category. The change places the UAE alongside countries such as several European nations, South Korea, and India, replacing its previous classification under stricter export controls that also included countries such as China and Yemen.
