Judicial Commission Approves Appointments and Extensions for Three High Courts

The Judicial Commission of Pakistan has issued a statement regarding the appointment and confirmation of judges in the Sindh, Islamabad, and Peshawar High Courts. Three meetings were held under the chairmanship of Chief Justice Yahya Afridi, where matters related to judicial appointments and extensions were reviewed.

During the meeting concerning the Sindh High Court, the commission considered the appointment of five additional judges and approved the appointment of Suresh Kumar, Shah Nawaz Memon, and Humayun Khan as additional judges. The commission also granted a six-month extension to Additional Judge Khalid Hussain Shahani, while Additional Judge Syed Fayyaz Hussain Shah could not be confirmed as a permanent judge. The constitutional benches of the Sindh High Court were also extended for three months.

For the Islamabad High Court, the commission approved the appointment of three additional judges, including Shah Rukh Arjumand, Ayaz Shaukat, and Umair Majeed Malik. Meanwhile, the commission approved the confirmation of four additional judges of the Peshawar High Court, including Justice Farah Jamshed, Justice Inamullah, Justice Sabitullah, and Justice Aurangzeb, as permanent judges.
