Iran’s Retaliatory Attacks Affect Kuwait’s Power System, Strikes Reported in Jordan and Bahrain

22 July, 2026 10:53

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it launched missiles at the US Army’s Arifjan base in Kuwait, claiming the attack damaged the country’s power grid.

Iranian Army spokesperson Brigadier General Akbar Meri Nia announced that Iran has added a new anti-aircraft system to its air defence network. He also said previously damaged defence systems have been repaired.

He said the new equipment has strengthened Iran’s air defences and improved its ability to respond to enemy aircraft.

Meanwhile, the IRGC and the Iranian Armed Forces’ public relations office said their Ground Forces targeted the US Army’s Arifjan base in Kuwait with surface-to-surface missiles during the 18th phase of “Operation Saiqah.”

The IRGC said its operation against the United States would continue as retaliation for US attacks.

According to Iranian claims, the strikes disrupted Kuwait’s power infrastructure. Kuwaiti authorities urged residents to reduce electricity use to help prevent power outages during the extreme summer heat.

Meanwhile, Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan said their air defence systems intercepted and destroyed several Iranian drones and missiles before they reached their targets.
