Ishaq Dar Calls for Humanitarian Aid and Two-State Solution for Palestine

NEW YORK: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar called for urgent international efforts to end the suffering in Gaza and advance a lasting political solution for Palestine.

Dar made the remarks while participating in and delivering Pakistan’s statement at a high-level international meeting on the two-state solution in New York.

The meeting, titled “The Road Ahead: One Year After the New York Declaration and the Comprehensive 20-point Peace Plan,” was convened by French President Emmanuel Macron, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and British Prime Minister Andy Burnham.

The opening statements were delivered by Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud and United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres.

The meeting brought together several world leaders and senior officials, including Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi.

During his statement, Dar stressed the need to immediately end the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza and ensure the unhindered delivery of humanitarian assistance to those in need.

He also called for progress towards an irreversible political process aimed at establishing an independent, sovereign and contiguous Palestinian state on the pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.

The meeting also included senior representatives from Norway, Ireland, Finland, the European Union, the Netherlands and Türkiye, reflecting continued international engagement on the two-state solution and the future of Palestine.
