Petrol, High-Speed Diesel Prices to Remain Unchanged Until July 27

The government has decided to keep the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel unchanged until July 27 under the country’s new daily fuel pricing system.

The new system has been introduced to make fuel pricing more transparent and allow changes in international oil prices to reach consumers more quickly. Under the mechanism, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) will review petroleum prices every day and publish updated rates on its website.

Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik said the new prices will be calculated using the average international oil price of the previous seven days. The system is aimed at bringing Pakistan’s fuel pricing closer to international practices.

The change comes at a time when global oil markets remain unstable because of rising tensions in the Middle East. The government had earlier moved from a fortnightly review to a weekly system before introducing the daily pricing mechanism.

Under the new framework, OGRA can announce daily ex-depot prices for petrol and high-speed diesel without seeking prior approval from the prime minister or federal government. However, prices announced on Fridays will remain unchanged over the weekend.

The new policy also includes changes to fuel imports for the fiscal year 2026-27. Pakistan State Oil (PSO) will be responsible for importing high-speed diesel, while oil marketing companies can import petrol based on their market share.

Companies that fail to meet their import commitments or fuel supply targets may not receive permission for new imports for up to nine months.

The prices of kerosene oil and light diesel oil will also be reviewed daily under the new system.
