Pakistan, Somalia Agree to Strengthen Defence Cooperation During GHQ Meeting

A high-level Somali delegation led by Defense Minister Ahmed Moallim Fiqi visited the General Headquarters (GHQ), where the minister held talks with Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). The two sides discussed regional security, bilateral defense cooperation, and matters of mutual interest.

ISPR said Pakistan and Somalia agreed to further strengthen defense ties by expanding military-to-military cooperation and enhancing capacity-building initiatives. Both sides also emphasized closer collaboration to address shared security challenges and reaffirmed their commitment to deepening institutional defense relations.

The Somali defense minister appreciated Pakistan’s consistent support for Somalia and praised the professionalism of the Pakistani Armed Forces. Field Marshal Asim Munir reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to supporting the strengthening of Somalia’s security sector and affirmed that Pakistan stands with Somalia in efforts to promote lasting peace and stability in the region.
