Exhumation of Young Karachi Trader Mir Raza Begins

The exhumation of young Karachi trader Mir Raza has begun at Society Cemetery, with members of the medical board, his family and lawyer Jibran Nasir present at the site. The police surgeon, head of the Identification Project and a magistrate are also overseeing the process, while a heavy police contingent has been deployed and strict security arrangements have been put in place.

Members of the medical board will collect various samples from the grave, including a DNA sample from Mir Raza’s remains. Authorities will also obtain DNA samples from his father and mother. According to officials, different parts of the body will undergo detailed forensic examination, with specialists conducting independent assessments to determine the circumstances surrounding his death.

Mir Raza’s family had earlier rejected a five-member medical board, following which the government restored the previous medical board. His father has maintained from the outset that his son was murdered rather than dying of natural causes. The exhumation and forensic examination are expected to provide additional evidence to help establish the cause and circumstances of Mir Raza’s death.
