AJK Elections Third Phase: Polling in Four Constituencies Set for August 10

The third phase of AJK elections will be conducted on August 10 across four constituencies in Bagh and Haveli districts, according to the Election Commission.

The Election Commission has announced polling in four constituencies of Bagh and Haveli, while the schedule for seven other constituencies in Poonch division has been delayed over security concerns.

Justice (retd) Ghulam Mustafa Mughal, Chief Election Commissioner of AJK, emphasized that casting a vote is both a democratic right and a national responsibility. He called on people to exercise their right to vote and ensure that their confidence is placed in the right representatives.

The Election Commission said that security arrangements have been completed, with security forces deployed at sensitive polling stations in Bagh and Haveli to maintain peace and ensure a smooth voting process.

The commission also announced that election dates for Rawalakot and Sadhanoti constituencies will be shared within the next seven days, allowing candidates enough time for their campaigns.

The announcement comes amid concerns surrounding the earlier phases of the AJK elections. The first two phases witnessed clashes and reports of unrest in some areas, with opposition parties raising concerns over the transparency of the process.

The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has alleged irregularities, including rigging and attacks on its workers, while the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has expressed confidence about securing a strong majority.

Political observers say security challenges in some areas have created concerns about the election process. However, the Election Commission has assured that all necessary measures are being taken to conduct peaceful and transparent polling.

The upcoming voting phase will decide representatives for four constituencies, while the remaining areas await a new election schedule.
